Syrdarya Gas-Fired Combined-Cycle IPP

Our 1st power project in Central Asia

This project involves the new construction of a natural gas-fired thermal power facility with a total output of about 1,600 MW (equity ownership of about 230 MW) in the Syrdarya area of the Republic of Uzbekistan, to generate and supply electricity over a period of 25 years. We commenced participation in the project in 2022, along with Électricité de France, Nebras Power from the State of Qatar and Sojitz Corporation.

Most of Uzbekistan’s power generation facilities are outdated thermal power plants, and the country is in urgent need of new construction and renewal of power generation facilities. Under these adverse circumstances, the Uzbek government’s policy is to replace aged thermal power facilities, etc. with high-efficiency power plants to satisfy the rise in demand and meet its greenhouse gas emissions reduction goal. This project is being promoted as part of such efforts.
